COLOURPOP Cosmetics (Made In The USA)

Image
When it comes to seasonal makeup the general rule of thumb is to rock bright colors in spring/summer and darker hues in fall/winter. I'm not one for strictly following the rules and when I saw this beautiful makeup image created by ColourPop Cosmetics I thought it would be the perfect look to recreate in the colder months. This fabulous makeup would look cute with a cozy sweater and comfy jeans. The orange and cream hues reminds me of the changing colors of the leaves and pumpkins. Now that I think about why do we only wear citrusy colors in summer when they are a much better fit during the autumn months?

The Communicator

Image
Great style is all about celebrating and sharing who you are with the world. It is not based on the best designers or how much your clothes cost. The key to great style is that it showcases who you are perfectly. Despite what people think clothing can say a lot. That is why it is always important when dressing to be your most authentic self. I have always believed that fashion is the great communicator. So tell me what does your fashion say about you?

Building Blocks

Image
The perfect basics are the building blocks of a versatile and stylish work wardrobe, but they do not have to be boring. In the past women were told in order to be successful in the workplace they had to tone down their femininity and adopt a more masculine personae. That ideal translated into major shoulder pads and power suits. Today those rules no longer apply and women do not have to shy away from their feminine sensibilities. Today's outfit, a sheath dress, matching bag and pumps highlight a modern femininity with sophisticated silhouettes, bold colors and fabrics. Now is the time to look sharp in well-cut fashion classics. This is power dressing with a personal twist.

Crimson Belle

Today's outfit of the day is easy, comfortable, and sexy. With a bold burst of color this look is right on trend. I loved the flowy sleeves which gives the dress a bohemian flare. Paired with leaf drop earrings, a studded leather belt, saddle bag, and gladiator heels this outfit is a throwback to the 1970s with a modern flair. As the days get cooler just add a cape and tall boots to stay warm.

The Atari Dress

Image
Usually when I am styling a set I try to balance practicality with a hint of fantasy. Generally the most important criteria is for the outfit is to be wearable, but today I am not in a practical frame of mind. I'm not trying to find the right high-low balance. I just wanted to style something that appealed to the kid in me but also made room for my adult sensibilities. For awhile now I have been intrigued by the "Atari" pieces that designer Peter Pilotto has created. It took me back to the dawn of the video game era when I was a child and everyone was excited for the first Atari video game system. I was obsessed with the joystick and to this day it is hard for me to totally enjoy video games without one. My absolute favorite game to play was Ms. Pac-Man and the clothing he has designed reminds me so much of that arcade favorite. The thing I love most about fashion is that nostalgia plays a huge part in creating what we wear today and in the future.

Contemporary Elegance - Dining Room Inspiration

Image
When it comes to decorating your home the safest bet for a tasteful residence is to stick to the classics at least until you figure out your own personal taste and are comfortable with taking more experimental risk. This is even truer when it comes to your dining room where you will create so many family memories, entertain guest and enjoying your most scrumptious meals. Today's set embodies that timeless elegance with a contemporary update. I was initially inspired by an image I found on Pinterest of this entryway with the most divine wood floor medallions. I was obsessed with the craftsmanship, artistry, symmetry and color scheme. I showcased all of those elements in today's inspiration board by picking out home decor items that will elevate your dining room by taking it from blah and turning it into a stylish haven that anyone would feel comfortable entertaining in.
