Be Different Babe - My 7 Favorite Finds Featuring Parrots

When it pertains to fashion we all have our own ideas about what works best for us. For most of us it has taken years for us to develop our own highly personal fashion sense, and we usually had to suffer through some painful and embarrassing fashion moments to figure it all out. Luckily each and every one of us has a beautifully unique and different perspective when it comes to fashion and I applaud anyone who can stand in their truth and who can disregard the many outside forces that will try to pressure you to conform to their ideals and standards. " I think there is beauty in everything. What normal people perceive as ugly, I can usually see something of beauty in it." - Alexander McQueen. I love this quote from the late designer because it totally sums up how I feel about fashion and to be honest it is basically how I walk through life. Even on my most melancholy days I always can see the beauty in things people discard, view as irregular or imperfect, or just the simplest nondescript items we use everyday. But of course I am a creative and an artist so it probably comes with the territory. I am inspired  and intrigued by the most unusual things and concepts. If I am surrounded by sameness for too long of a time I start to feel anxious and irritated. Perfection is unappealing to me. I tend to revel in the cracks and scars that makes us who we are and life more interesting. But that is just me. Tell me what has shaped your fashion sense and what do you feel is the most appealing aspect of it?

As you can see from today's outfit of the day I'm focusing on being different and motifs that you do not usually see in fashion. For some reason I'm obsessed with parrots. It is probably because the variety of colors their plumage comes in and because I wish I was on a tropical island right now. It would be so great to be disconnected from the digital world and to be surrounded by lush foliage and the only sounds that could be heard is the caw cawing of the vibrantly hued bird. On a side note they are also considered one of the most intelligent species of birds. So I'm really digging anything featuring parrots. Here are a few more of my favorite parrot finds below.

  5. First, I love the quote fro Alexander McQueen--very inspiring. The A-line skirt from Simone Rocha is so classy, my imagination went running with different looks I can pair it with. The parrot motif is so beautiful and definitely reminded me of tropical paradise. That swimsuit is by far my favorite among other selections. Another great inspo babe! xx

  10. I really couldn't agree more, LaToya! I love to experiment with different styles and applications because I like to continuously be inspired and keep my looks interesting and reflective of who I am. Honestly, there are so many different sides of me, as there are to everyone, which is why my looks will vary. I really do dress in a way that's reflective of my mood, sometimes intentionally and sometimes not. I believe there's beauty in everything and everyone, sometimes we need to look hard and other times, it's right in front of us. Such a great post, beautiful! I hope you have the best week ahead and a great start to your birthday month, whoohoo!

    1. You are so right Jalisa sometimes it is hard to find the beauty in things but once we get past our preconceived notions and really open our mind up to the possibilities you end up seeing the beauty in everything.
