Beauty And The Beat - Pastel Princess

Image
Right now I am coveting this makeup look and beauty products by Colourpop Cosmetics. They have been my go to brand for the past year and I hardly buy anything else made from another company. So as I was browsing their site Memorial Day weekend I came across this makeup look for Spring/Summer 2016 and instantly wanted to try all of the products used to create it. Below are the three main items needed to recreate this look and the products are all animal cruelty free.

Bohemian Charm

Image
I do not know what it is about warmer weather but when the temperatures start to rise I always feel  the urge to wear every bohemian inspired article of clothing that I have. They just seem to work perfectly during this time of year. Maybe it is the sun bouncing off the bright colors and bold prints but I always feel so relaxed and comfortable when rocking bohemian style.  Today's outfit of the day is a street style inspired take of the bohemian trend. Surprisingly both styles complement each other well and blend seamlessly together into a cool and cute outfit.

The Home Advantage - Spring Florals

Image
Each spring I become totally obsessed with floral prints. I can't seem to help myself. Usually my obsession is geared towards incorporating the print into my wardrobe, but this year I'm  also loving it for the home. This came as a big surprise to me because I do not like girly interiors. I'm not a fan of pinks or floral prints in my home. They are actually kind of banned from crossing the threshold, but I may be rethinking that this year. Below are some of the items that have me fawning for floral prints.

Take The Plunge

Image
None of my friends would ever consider me a party girl. I go out occasionally but not on a regular basis, but when I do go out I like to glam it up. So today's set is all about a glam and sexy outfit for a club or bar hop. This look is centered around this beautiful Amelia Rose Deep Plunge Dress. I usually like to tone down the accessories when I style such a eye catching frock but for this occasion I wanted to go all out so I paired it with must have accessories like these Alexander McQueen earrings, a Judith Leiber sparkly clutch and sexy metallic heels.

Girl's Night Out

Image
When I go out with my girls for a night of fun I always like to wear something that is flirty, stylish and easy to get around in. When I saw this jumpsuit at Asos I knew it was perfect and would fit all of the criteria for a great outfit to kick it in. I love the stylish pinstripe and the body hugging fit of this sexy jumpsuit so I decided to make it the center of today's fashion set. Since the jumpsuit makes a bold statement on its own I wanted to keep everything else simple to balance it out. I paired it with a cute bracelet from Stella & Dot, a sleek and vibrant clutch from Alysse Sterling and sexy heels from Daisy Street.
What is your go to outfit for a night of fun with your friends?

Rugged Rascal - Preppy Nautical Style

Image
A classic look for men during spring and summer is preppy style. I do like the look on men but do not want it too look to uptight or staid. I tend to prefer a hybrid of preppy and nautical style. They work together because they utilize some of the same elements. Both styles have their roots in upper crest/Ivy League style and their leisure activities such as polo and sailing. My take is a more relaxed version of both styles and a perfect look for however you choose to spend your leisure time.

Asos Geo Sequin Mini Dress

Image
Today's set is all about this cute Asos Geo Sequin Mini Dress that I fell in love with. I was drawn to the soft pastel color palette that was used to contrast the geometric pattern. Usually when you see a geometric pattern it is featuring bold strong colors so this dress was a welcome change. I also liked that it had a roomy fit that was not to constricting and the shorter hemline allows you to show off your fabulous legs. The best part of the dress for me was the beautiful backless detail that added a hint of sexiness. I decided to keep the geometric theme going by styling this dress with geometric shaped earrings by Eddie Borgo, a sleek minimalist clutch by Alexander Wang and Jimmy Choo heels.

Spring Essential - A Floral Jumpsuit

Image
I am constantly being asked what is some of the must have items for spring and there is one item that makes it on my list each time I answer - a floral jumpsuit. A jumpsuit provides ease and comfort and a pretty floral print gives off a feminine and romantic vibe. The one I am featuring today from Boohoo is perfect for a night out with a plunge neckline and figure flattering shape. Plus it is totally affordable since it sells for less than $50.

The Home Advantage - Modern Sophistication

Image
When I saw this beautiful dining room designed by interior designer Catherine Kwong I became inspired. I usually have a love/ hate relationship with modern design. I love the sculptural elements and it's sleek uncluttered nature, but I hate that modern design can sometimes come off as too sharp, masculine and cold. I am usually drawn to modern spaces that incorporate color, textural elements, curves and rounded edges. That was why her design perfectly suited my aesthetic. Since I was so inspired by Ms. Kwong's design I decided to use that inspiration for today's home set. I kept the original spirit of her design but I incorporated furniture that fit my decorating style.

Tricky Trend - Floral Jeans ( My 7 Favorite Floral Jeans For Spring 2016 )

Image
How would you react if I was to tell you that you can rock four major trends for spring all in one outfit? Most people including myself would probably think it was overkill and too trendy, but it doesn't have to be that way if you do it smartly. I believe the main way to overcome the obstacle of combining numerous trends is to make sure all of your chosen items are connected by color. My favorite color schemes consist of 3-4 complementary colors used continuously throughout the outfit to make it look cohesive. For today's outfit of the day I worked with the colors blue, white, olive and yellow. With this color palette I was able to incorporate four trends into this casual outfit. The four trends and must have items this spring are the bomber jacket, reflective sunglasses, fringe heels and floral print jeans.
What are some of your favorite trends for spring and how do you style them?
