My Pre-Spring Beauty Faves For 2017

Image
Hello, Lovelies! Today I am sharing a few of my pre-spring beauty/makeup faves for 2017. I know, I know, technically there is no such thing as pre-spring, but that is what I am calling this weird transitioning period from frigid temperatures one day and milder weather the next. Not only does this schizophrenic weather cause chaos when trying to figure out what to wear, but it also can wreak havoc on my skin. For me, it makes it really hard to decide if I'm ready to rock a brighter color palette that is usually associated with the changing of the seasons. So, today I will be highlighting some of my makeup essentials during this time of year.

Marni Madder Print Dress

Image
I fell for this Marni dress immediately after seeing it's beautifully bold print. The graphic floral print was of a large scale, and it is the kind of dress that you have to commit to in order to confidently rock it. The modern cut and shape of the dress gives it a modern edge, and pairing it with a fur lined leather jacket gives it a cool girl vibe. I wanted to accentuate the playful vibe of the print and added a fun, and cute, pom-pom hat. To polish off the look I included a sumptuous velvet jewel-tone clutch and sleek boots.

Wow, They Told Me I Couldn't. So I Did.

Image
I'm not a big fan of following fashion rules. One will say you can not have more than one eye-catching item in an outfit. Another one says that only certain body types can wear stripes. Some will say that any fashion item with quotes or sayings on them are inappropriate or tacky. Another one says you can not wear boots with long dresses. See what I mean? I'm sure you have encountered at least one fashion rule that did not make sense to you and said forget that noise and rocked whatever you wanted to anyway. So today's fashion set is a big f*ck you to the fashion rules.

A Classic Romance

Image
I love color but there are a few color combinations that I tend to avoid, like the color combo of pink and red. It reminds me of a Pepto Bismol bottle for some reason, but when I saw a picture of a living space by interior designer Miles Redd I was intrigued. What intrigued me about this space was that I had never seen the color combination paired with traditional furniture. Somehow that made the unusual home design more appealing to me. There were still some things that I would change, like the color of the walls, and I would probably not group as many pictures and paintings together, but I could not deny that overall the design works.

So, this inspired me to try to replicate the look with my own aesthetic in mind.

Searching For Reading Glasses - My 8 Favorite Finds

Image
Sometimes I forget that as I age gracefully that the rest of my body has also gotten older. Recently, I was having a conversation with my younger sister and somehow we ended up on the topic of our eyesight and how it has changed over the years. The only real issue I have had with my eyes growing up is light sensitivity, but now that I have gotten older I'm starting to have a problem reading very small print. So,  I have been casually looking for a pair of readers that will accentuate my features. I am in no rush to purchase just any old pair. I'm going to take my time to find the perfect pair that will flatter my face shape and features, and like finding the perfect pair of jeans I have to try on several before I find my perfect match.

Now you may be wondering who this lovely lady pictured above is and why I'm featuring her in today's post. Well, she is an unknown model photographed by the very talented Ryan McGuire and I loved her picture because she has a pair of real…

Wrap That Pretty Package In A Bow

Image
As some of you may know a new fashion season has begun, so, we are caught up in a flurry of new trends, events, promotions, and stupendously talented creatives. The biggest events usually occur during New York's fashion week, and plenty of fabulously styled trendsetters flock to the city to attend these high profile events. Even though I am not attending fashion week it did cause me to think about what I would wear if I had chosen to attend at this point in my life. When I was in my twenties, I would have worn something edgy and eye-catching. Something that would have all eyes on me. Now a decade later, I would opt for something that hinted at the current trends but with a more sophisticated and professional vibe, because at this point in my life it would be more about work than partying and being seen for the sake of being seen. So at the end of the day, I would wrap my pretty package in a bow and get to work.

My 6 Favorite Finds For Winter From Nicole Miller

Image
Nicole Miller is a uniquely talented designer with a fine arts degree who was also trained in couture techniques in Paris. Her experience and expertise have given her a unique style and vision for her namesake brand.

I was perusing her website and came across a few goodies to add to my ever growing wish list. Most of the items that I was drawn to had a few elements in common. They were ornate, embroidered, had floral details, and a textural appeal. All of my finds would be perfect for elevating your style while keeping you looking chic, sophisticated, and glamorous.

January POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review

Image
Hello, lovelies! Today I am reviewing the POPSUGAR Must Have Box for January. As you guys may know when the new year rolls around a lot of companies roll out products geared towards setting goals and achieving balance in our chaotic lives. It is always marketed as self-improvement or a guide to creating a brand new you. This concept has always irked me because you are who you are no matter how hard you to try to fight it. Just because the new year rolls around it doesn't mean you automatically turn into a whole new person who instantly resets their life, and because people fall for that notion I believe it sets us up for failure. Plus, we end up spending money on things, programs, and gym memberships that we either do not need or will never follow through with. If you haven't figured it out yet, I basically am not a fan of anything that may fall along those lines. So, keep that pronouncement in mind while you are reading my review.
