Outfit of the Day - Mod Inspiration

I spotted this picture of Jourdan Dunn at a fashion show and thought her look was perfect for Spring. I'm always a sucker for a beauty look with a nod to past decades, and Jourdan's look reminded me of the Swinging 60's . It put me in the mood for Mod! So I styled a look around my "Mod Inspiration" . I selected this Dorothy Perkin's dress because it's design has vintage inspired details but the denim material keeps it current. Even though I love vintage inspired pieces I never want to look as if I stepped out of a time warp.To achieve that goal I made sure to pick modern accessories that would compliment the dress. I chose orange ankle strap heels from Zara, an embellished Nelly bracelet, and a bag from Reed Krakoff.

Beauty Tip of the Day - 3 Steps To A Faster Blow Dry

1)Turn Your head upside down. Loosely blow-dry using fingers until hair is 80 percent dry, then clip the top layers up and out of the way.

2)Working in chunky 3 or 4 inch sections, hold a round brush flush to your scalp, pointing the dryer directly at your roots and sweeping it left and right for 20 seconds.

3) To smooth your ends, drag your brush downward for the last five seconds.

* A high-powered, salon quality dryer is essential in achieving a speedier hair dry. *

Not Just For Work Anymore - 7 Ways to Rework A Pencil Skirt

I hear the words " pencil skirt" and what usually comes to mind is work. The pencil skirt has been a classic staple in a woman's work wardrobe for decades. Most of us own at least one, especially if you want to be seen as a "serious" career woman. But as we are ushering in a new era in fashion, the pencil skirt is shedding it's no-nonsense image. With the rise of bloggers (such as myself), and street style culture, we are starting to see classics re-imagined and styled in unique and creative ways. Below I have styled several variations of the pencil skirt according to seven personality types: The Sophisticate, The Art Fanatic, The Party Girl, The Trendsetter, The Prepster, Geeky-Chic Style Maven, and The Jokester. So the next time you are in your closet and feel like you have nothing to wear, take a look at that pencil skirt again. See it in a new light,  imagine the possibilities, and show us how you would rock it.

Be Bold - How I Rock A Yellow Jacket (Outfit of the Day)

On Saturday I wrote about my favorite yellow blazers for Spring 2013. In today's set I am showing how I would rock a yellow blazer. I figured it was two ways to go with this. Either go bold or keep everything else minimal. As you can see...I chose to go bold. I picked a checkered black and white dress to accent the yellow leather jacket from Alice + Olivia. I accessorized with Casadei wedges and a two-tone clutch from Debenhams. I kept it tongue-in-cheek with cute key chains from Kate Spade and Tiffany.
