The Home Advantage - Mood Indigo (Big Mushroom Lounge Chair)

" A chair should be more than simply functional. It should be friendly, fun and colorful. "
- Pierre Paulin

Pierre Paulin studied stone carving and clay modeling at the Ecole Camondo in Paris in the early fifties where he began designing furniture for Thonet. In 1958, he became the designer at Artifort where he created a series of sculptural chairs with an inner structure of steel tubing, covered in foam and fabric. In 1968, Paulin collaborated with Le Mobilier National and received and many important government commissions including furniture and interiors for the Elysee Palace in Paris.
Paulin designed the iconic Big Mushroom Lounge Chair. The Big Mushroom is a classic in the Artifort Collection. Soft, ample, inviting and supremely comfortable, the Big Mushroom is an eye-catching lounge that makes you just want to curl up and enjoy it to the fullest. Explicit, subtle and organic, this lounge chair bursts of fun with vivid color and style.

  1. Gorgeoussss! I love that that mushroom chair! Wish our home is larger so I can decorate it a little more but at 1400sf, the space is fairly limited. :-/

    1. That's plenty of space to work with. To get more out of your space you may have to reconsider furniture size.

  2. I have seen this style of chair on many occasions, but have never tried sitting in one. I wonder if they are as comfortable as they look....?

    1. It looks like they are supportive enough but it may not be cushy enough to kick back in.

  3. This will make for a good lounge chair , love the design and colour.
