Popsugar Must Have Box

A couple of weeks ago I was picked by Popsugar to receive a free Must Have Popsugar Subscription Box for the month of June to review. I received my box on the 20th and ever since then I have feverishly been trying to test out all of the products that I could to see if I could honestly recommend their subscription service. I have never tried a subscription service in the past because I was fearful that I would not receive items that I could use on a regular basis and it left too much up to chance since you can not pick the items you choose to receive. I was pleasantly surprised by the items included in the box and so far I have been satisfied with the majority of the items.  Popsugar currently has two subscription options. The standard Must Have Subscription Box (which I received) offers full-sized surprises for $39.95 a month. The second option is the Must Have Mini Subscription box that offers smaller versions of their must have items of the month and the picks are different than the …

Office Style - Creative Whimsy

Today's outfit is based off this beautifully whimsical and feminine office space. I was drawn to the mix of prints and the colorful accents. The room was modern and trendy. I liked how the designer was able to balance the space by making it very functional and fun.

So to create today's outfit of the day the key elements I took from the inspiration image were a neutral color palette with pops of color, a mix of prints and I had to make sure that the end result had a bit of whimsy to it. At first, creating the outfit was a bit of a challenge because even though the room had a lot of eye-catching prints it was still subtle. So to try to find that balance in an outfit was challenging. I did not want the prints to be overpowering or distracting from the overall vibe so I was very pleased when I found this knit top with a pretty embroidered collar and striped A-line skirt. To add the necessary dose of color I accessorized the look with pink round sunglasses and a chic shoulder bag. …

Bring The Tropics Home

Today is the first day of summer and I am happy it is officially the start of the season. If you have been following my blog over the years you already know that this is my favorite time of the year. I become energized and animated every time I get a chance to absorb some of the sun's invigorating rays. Now that summer is upon us I am inspired by all types of images of home decor that is inspired by the season.
The image above was one of my favorite examples of how to let summer and a tropical influence guide you in decorating your home. This seating area is luxurious, textural, vibrant and eye-catching. I thought it was absolutely fab and not something you usually see. If you are hesitant to give such a bold aesthetic a try you can always pick and choose elements that work for you and apply it to your favorite sun-filled space. Below are a few furniture and home accessories that will help bring the tropics into your home.

Retro Stripes

I was born in 1979 so I have always had a special place in my heart for the 70's and today's set was inspired by that decade. Every time I think about the 1970's I conjure up memories of indigo denim, big sunglasses, and platform wedges. I used some of the biggest trends from that decade and added some modern flair for a cool casual outfit for the summer.
What are some of your favorite trends from the 1970's?

Blind Date - Floral Mini Skirt

A few days ago my friend tried to set me up on a blind date. Now usually this is a no-no for me because I'm a control freak and I believe that I'm the only one who really knows what I like in a prospective date. While I was considering if I should go ahead and give it a try I started to wonder what would we be a great first date outfit especially with the fickle weather we have been having lately. Yesterday it was 90 degrees and today it is a breezy 68 degrees so it makes it hard to determine sometimes what would be appropriate. Since I have great legs I thought a cute floral mini skirt would do the trick. It highlights one of my best features and the print is girly but approachable, in other words not too overpowering. Since I never like to show everything when I first meet someone I  thought a cute sleeveless button down would pair well with the skirt and add a demure vibe to the look. To combat the schizophrenic temps a denim jacket completes the outfit and you can easily t…

Street Style Chic - My 6 Favorite Cropped Bralets For Summer 2016

Finally, the temps are warming up and I can't wait to shed the layers and artfully show a bit of skin. I seem to thrive in the summer months but I'm a summer baby so it would make sense that I love the feel of the sun on my skin. The first thing that I am excited to wear is sleeveless tops. Whenever it gets hot I always get agitated for some reason I seemed to get overheated faster if I am wearing anything with sleeves. So today's outfit of the day is featuring a cute cropped bralet top that will have you soaking up the sun in style.

Glam Up Your Wardrobe With Sequins And Fringe

My favorite embellishments are sequins and fringe. I always believe when added to your wardrobe they always up the glam quotient. They are guaranteed to dress up your look and add a much-needed dose of fun and whimsy. When it comes to my particular style I tend to like embellished pieces that have a tribal or global influence. Luckily it all works together wonderfully as you can see from the outfit below.
