January POPSUGAR Must Have Box Review
Hello, lovelies! Today I am reviewing the POPSUGAR Must Have Box for January. As you guys may know when the new year rolls around a lot of companies roll out products geared towards setting goals and achieving balance in our chaotic lives. It is always marketed as self-improvement or a guide to creating a brand new you. This concept has always irked me because you are who you are no matter how hard you to try to fight it. Just because the new year rolls around it doesn't mean you automatically turn into a whole new person who instantly resets their life, and because people fall for that notion I believe it sets us up for failure. Plus, we end up spending money on things, programs, and gym memberships that we either do not need or will never follow through with. If you haven't figured it out yet, I basically am not a fan of anything that may fall along those lines. So, keep that pronouncement in mind while you are reading my review.
MAY DESIGNS Desk Calendar & Notecard: Unfortunately I was not too keen on receiving another calendar to commemorate the new year because I received quite a few as gifts during the holiday season already. This is most definitely not the makers of the calendar fault by any means but at the end of the day, I have yet to figure out what I am going to do with 5 calendars. I have no available space for them, but putting all of my frustrations aside the actual calendar that I received from May Designs is very pretty and would be a lovely addition to your workspace or home office. It features hand painted designs which are always a nice touch in my opinion. An extra feature of this particular calendar is that when the month is over you can turn the card over and cut down the dotted line and it can then be used as a personalized notecard. |
MANDUKA eQua Mat Towel in Playa: I have to keep it real. Everybody in my personal life knows I am not an athletic girl and most definitely do not participate in fitness activities. So, I could not review this particular item and it would interfere with me actively pursuing a sedentary lifestyle. Lol. Kidding, but not really kidding. All jokes aside, though, I do not do yoga so this product was not of any use to me, but it is marketed as a nonslip, absorbent, and quick drying towel that you can use on top of your yoga mat. |
DAILY CONCEPTS Your Hair Wrap Towel: This was the star of the box for me. Not only is it a must have item that EVERY woman should own it also was something I was already in the market for, so this came right on time for me. It is a hybrid of a microfiber towel and drying cap. It is big enough and long enough to dry any length of hair, and it also works for all hair types and textures. It gently dries your hair while eliminating frizz, and it cut my hair drying time by half which is huge for anyone who loves to rock a wash and go like I do. It comes with a handy button closure so you can still run around the house and do other things while your hair is drying, and it is also perfect if you wash your hair at night. You can just wrap it around your head, secure it, and lay down to a peaceful night's rest without having to worry about your hair being a tangled, frizzy mess in the morning. |
GLADE Coconut and Beach Woods Candle: This multilayered soy candle is the perfect balance of sweet and woodsy. I have always been attracted to woodsy notes in fragrances so this was perfect for me and appealed to my olfactory senses. My only complaint is that it did not come in a bigger size. |
GOLDFADEN MD Fresh A Peel Multi Acid Resurfacing Peel: I'm not sure how helpful my review of this product will be if you are looking for information about long term results because I have only had a short amount of time to test this product out, but so far I have had some minimal results. This peel does remove dead skin cells and it is part of a natural skin care line, which is always a plus. It is easy to use and it only adds an additional 3-5 minutes to your skin care routine. I would have to give a more in-depth review of this product at a later date after using it a bit longer. |
DEAN & DELUCA Peppermint Loose Leaf Tea: This was another product that was not right for me because I can't stand the taste of any kind of tea. So this rendered this product pretty much useless, but I hear peppermint tea is a good digestive aid so it may be of use to someone who needs help in that area and loves tea. |
SOURCEBOOKS INC Instant Happy Notes: Usually I would say something like this is a waste of paper, especially in this day of emoticons, GIF, memes, and hashtags, but something about it appealed to me. The notes had a quirky kind of charm, and they did make my jaded heart grudgingly smile when I perused through them. This pad features a collection of sticky notes that are full of fun illustrations and inspirational quotes. If you need a daily dose of happiness or little pick me up this would be perfect for you. |
Final Thoughts:
Overall, this was my least favorite POPSUGAR Must Have Box that I have received. Most of my disappointment was centered around receiving a box full of products that did not fit my lifestyle or interests. At the end of the day that is not POPSUGAR's fault because I am sure there is a huge market for people who would enjoy this month's theme, but if this was my first time receiving a box it would be a huge letdown. Luckily, I have collaborated with them several times and every other box catered to my particular interests (fashion, beauty, home), so on the strength of that, I would still recommend the subscription.
