How To Style A Long Print Skirt For Work
Is it weird that I hardly wear skirts anymore, especially long skirts? I think the last time I wore a long skirt I was in my early twenties and that was over a decade ago. Since I have an hourglass figure it is easier for me to throw on a dress or pants because the proportions are easier to get right, especially since I have a much smaller waist than my hips and butt. Unless a skirt is tailored made it will usually droop in the waist area and fit snugly in the hips and butt and no belt can hide all of that extra loose fabric. The only time I have any success when buying a skirt off the rack is when it is in an A-line cut or style that is similar.
For the last several seasons I have noticed that a lot of designers have been showcasing long print statement skirts and a lot of them are cut in the ultra-flattering A-line style. I could totally see celebs rocking the look but it made me start to think how would the average woman wear it. Now the obvious way to rock longer print skirts are to wear them at a special event or party but I feel you could get more use out of a long skirt if you incorporate it into your work wardrobe. If wearing a print statement skirt scares you try rocking the skirt in a smaller print, and if you are petite try the style but in a slightly shorter version with shoes that will lengthen your legs which means no ankle straps.
Below I am showcasing how I would wear a long printed skirt for work. To keep the proportions right I paired the skirt with a fitted top to cinch in the waist to keep the look figure-flattering. I added simple understated accessories that would not overwhelm the look and they also keep the attention on the beautiful print of the statement skirt.
