Abstraction Series - Rebirth
Today I am featuring my latest painting that I finished at the end of last week. This particular painting has taking an interesting journey to completion. It has had a few twists and turns along the way. It first started as a painting that featured a silhouette of a singular flower set against a backdrop of abstracted shapes in the hues of brown, yellow, and oranges. That was back in 2006 when I first started working on it. I let it sit in my home for several years and a couple of weeks ago I came across it again. I sat with it for a few days not knowing what direction I wanted to take it next, finally, I stopped overthinking and picked up a brush and decided to follow wherever the brush took me. I thought I would initially just work on enhancing the flower but the more color and shapes I added it started to take on a life of its own and I ended up with a different painting than before.

I was pleased with the end result. It no longer resembles a flower. Instead, it turned into an abstract painting with so many layers and so much movement. The flow of the painting allows you to revel in all of the details. You can stare at it for hours and notice so many new things.
