Designer Neil Barrett Is Having A Love Affair With Stripes In His SS/18 Collection
Neil Barrett is one of those designers that have been making his mark in fashion for decades but is not well known among the masses. He is known for great design and impeccable tailoring but usually shies away from prints, patterns, and bold colors. Now that we are in the social media age it has caused the designer to rethink how he designs and presents his work to the world.
In his collection for summer that thought process is very evident. His creations took a graphic turn with bold stripes slashed across his clothing. Even though it was surprising to see this from the designer it still managed to fit into his minimalist aesthetic and will most definitely stand out on social media as well. The designer attributed his inspiration for this collection to the minimalist artist Donald Judd and his iconic work.

As you can see above Donald Judd's influence is felt throughout the collection. I like when I can clearly see what a fashion designer is inspired by when viewing collections. Since fashion is a visual art it is important that a designer can accurately capture what they are trying to convey and Neil Barrett succeeded in doing just that.
