Outfit of the Day - NEW WAVE MODERN
When I am inspired by vintage images they are usually from the 50's or 60's era. Today's outfit of the day was inspired by an image from 1978 featuring two fierce women at Studio 54 rocking the New Wave look. At that time New Wave was just starting to take over the most popular trend of that day, which was disco. The New Wave scene had a huge following because of acts such as Blondie, Talking Heads, The Police, and the Cars. To be quite honest MTV would not be what is today without the movement. In 1981, when MTV first broadcast music videos the majority of the acts that they showed were all a part of the New Wave scene. Growing up in the '80s, some of my earliest memories of music came from this movement, and shaped how I viewed fashion. So with that in mind, I present to you my homage to New Wave with a modern twist.
